Know the Camera
The Instax Mini 11 is one of the most beginner-friendly instant cameras out there, but a few things can trip you up and waste your new films, if you don't know them going in. Here's a quick orientation before you shoot your first roll.
Before You Shoot
-
1
Never open the film chamber mid-roll The films are optically sensitive. Opening the chamber before the roll is finished will expose and ruin several shots and they will come out plain white.

2
The first sheet out is a black protective cover When you load a new film pack, the first thing that ejects is a dark protective sheet and this is completely normal. Discard it; it is not a photo.
Pro Tip
Shoot in good natural light whenever possible. The flash is automatic on the Mini 11, but photos taken in daylight come out much richer in colour and detail than flash-heavy indoor shots.
